The satellite Orbiting Vehicle 3-3 of the U.S. Air force was launched in 1966 and conducted radiation belt particle and fields experiments for 14 month. It was shutdown in 1969 after the tape recorder for data storage failed and the collection of the real-time data transmission got too expensive. 46 years after the shutdown it woke up again.
